Another crushing defeat
Posted by Nazly on Monday, 17th October 2005 11:17:12 (GMT +0530)The Test match that was supposed to be played for six days ended in the morning of the fourth day as the Aussies comprehensively beat a high-class World XI team lead by Graeme Smith. Though the World XI bowling department powered with Steve Harmison, Andrew Flintoff, Muttiah Muralitharan, Danniel Vettori did fairly a good job, the batting didn't come out at all. The big names in World XI (Rahul Dravid, Brian Lara, Jaques kallis, Inzamam Ul Haq, Virendar Shewag, Graeme Smith) were completely outdone by the spin duo Shane Warne and Stuart McGill. The pair shared 15 wickets amongst them.
The result produced by the Super Series clearly justifies one fact. Cricket is all about playing as one unit. The understanding between individuals is very important for a team game like Cricket.

First 30Km
Posted by Nazly on Wednesday, 12th October 2005 22:42:05 (GMT +0530)I bought a new bike to ease my travelling. I have really got sick of travelling by bus and have been eagerly waiting to get my hands on a bike. Finally I picked Bajaj Discover, one of the coolest bikes to hit the streets of Colombo. I had a 30Km ride first up to bring the bike home from the factory. Its one of my sweetest and the coolest experience that I can think of in the recent past. Been hitting the streets lately and riding a bike in the city traffic is not an easy task at all..
I'll try to get some photos of my bike and post it here..

Aussies crash World XI
Posted by Nazly on Sunday, 9th October 2005 22:42:09 (GMT +0530)The Aussies proved that they are the top one-day unit when they beat the World XI in a 3-0 whitewash in the One-day games of the ICC Super Series. The World XI was captained by Shaun Pollock and was packed with big names. Chris Gayle, Virendar Sehwag, Kumar Sangakkara, Jaques Kallis, Brian Lara, Andrew Flintoff, Kevin Pieterson, Rahul Dravid, Shaun Pollock, Danniel Vettori, Shahid Afridi, Makhaya Ntini and Muttiah Muralitharan were in the World XI squad. But the Aussies were too good for this side with big names as they were totally outclassed. Adam Gilchrist played a vital role as he thrashed the ball all around the park and helped Aussies to put big totals on the board which earned him the man of the match award. Some casual dismissals and silly runouts never allowed the World XI to form a partnership in chasing big Aussie totals. The 6 day Test between the Aussies and World XI will start on the 14th of October.

Syntax highlighter
Posted by Nazly on Monday, 3rd October 2005 22:46:28 (GMT +0530)GeSHi the Generic Syntax Highlighter is a cool piece of code that can highlight the syntax of most of the well known programming languages. Source Code higlighting is a much needed feature in websites that has forums and tutorials. Since I only want to highlight PHP code in my blog I use the built-in functions highlight_file() and highlight_string(). Whats good about GeSHi is that it can highlight the source code of a lot of languages which will be very useful for common forums which are not language specific.
