10 types of people
Posted by Nazly on Sunday, 29th May 2005 23:28:12 (GMT +0530)There are 10 types of people in the world:
Those who understand binary, and those who don't...
This is one of my favourite geek quotes. This has been around for quite a while and I even wanted to buy the T-Shirt from ThinkGeek.com with the quote printed.
Myself and my co-worker AKA IceBerg have been trying this on our co-workers and friends and the responses are like.. "So what", "There are only two of them", "Where are the rest" etc.. and its so worrying that these guys are IT related. We have only one answer for them and that is "You belong to the one's who don't"

Cracking start to the summer
Posted by Nazly on Saturday, 28th May 2005 22:03:06 (GMT +0530)Currently all eyes are focusing on one series and thats the Ashes. Australia have been dominating both forms of the game and according to my personal view England can put an end to Australia's run in Test Cricket. Ranking No.2 in Test rankings England under the captaincy of Michael Vaughan has been one of the best outfits that England had for quite a sometime and have all the potential to beat the Aussies. The message was sent to Australia in the last Champions Trophy Semi-Finals when England beat a power packed Australian team. But the Aussies have nothing to lose. They are the best at the moment and they are unstoppable.
The Test between England and Bangladesh started off last Thursday and ended up just before lunch on the 3rd day. England scrored a massive 528 for the loss of 3 wickets in 112 overs, Trescothick scored 194 and Vaughan offering great support with 120. Strauss, Bell and Thorpe chipped in with scores above 45. England's bowling has been spot on as all the bowlers Harmison, Hoggards, Jones and Flintoff bagged wickets restricting Bangladesh to 108 in the first Innings and 159 in the second giving England a win by an Innings and 261 runs.
England are well on course here. Though they are up against the inexperienced Bangladesh team, they have made the point that they are firing with all their cylinders this summer to bring the Ashes home.
The man who made the biggest impact for England, Andrew Flintoff has recovered well after his ankle surgery and really keen to prove that he is the man for the job. He told to the papers that "No matter what I have achieved before in my career, I know I shall get judged on what I do against the Aussies".

So atlast with the help of the long weekend I got it done. Also I made some changes on the layout as well. Since now I have the commenting feature please do let me know if there is any additions or bugs that you might catch.

Long Holidays..
Posted by Nazly on Wednesday, 25th May 2005 07:35:54 (GMT +0530)The last weekend was extened to a four day holiday for the Wesak Poya days. I was kinda planning a trip to Kandy but it was cancelled at the end. So I got stuck with my computer and started playing with some crazy MySQL stuff which I was afraid to get my hands on. I had loads of fun all the way and learned a lot.
The best part was on all four days I had some fun playing cricket in the evenings. I was really enjoying myself bowling really fast with some perfect line and length.
So the holidays were not a waste after all..

A memorable hatrick
Posted by Nazly on Thursday, 12th May 2005 11:49:14 (GMT +0530)A lot of hatricks has been taken in Oneday Cricket but Langveldt took a memorable hatrick that gave a thrilling one run victory for South Africa against West Indies in the 3rd Oneday International of the ongoing series..
West Indies required four runs to win from the last over to win the match. They were 7 down at that time. Langeveldt was called to bowl the last over and this is how it ended up.
49.1 Langeveldt to Bradshaw, one run, on the off, forward, slaps the drive square and over point, sweeper round to cut off
49.2 Langeveldt to Bravo, one run, full, clips to midwicket, runs, Prince fires in, Bravo almost gave up, but the throw is wide 6 men inside the circle
49.3 Langeveldt to Bradshaw, OUT: line and length, swings, misses, and the stumps are down
49.4 Langeveldt to Powell, OUT: straight, on line, has a full swing, and stumps are spread
49.5 Langeveldt to Collymore, OUT: full, inswing, into the pad, they all go up and a hattrick wins it for South AFrica
Jubilant South African team after Langeveldt hatrick

Stuff I got
Posted by Nazly on Monday, 9th May 2005 22:46:37 (GMT +0530)I have been finding it difficult to blog lately as I didn't get that much of a time off from my normal working schedule. Also trying my best to sleep early so that I can stand on my feet when I wake up early in morning. I have been finding it difficult to keep my eyes open after waking up as I try to sleep again after waking up.. Kinda weird ha.. I got some stuff in the past month which I have been waiting a long time to get my hands on.
To start off with, I got my long waited FireFox 1.0 T-Shirt and the Php 5 Objects, Patterns, Practice book. After my flash disk screwed up I had the plan of going for a MP3 Memory Music Watch, though it was really bulky when I checked it. I got a cool Mp3 player+Flash disk. It has a capacity of 256 MB. It also has voice recording, FM radio and a seven band equalizer.
Also I switched my Samsung X100 phone with a Ericsson T610. I was playing with it lately with all the Bluetooth capabilities it has. I also designed some cool themes and this Mozilla Firefox 1.0 theme came out really well.
Will update ya'll if I get any more new stuff.

Request to XXX -
Dear XXX Technical Support:
I am desperate for some help. I recently upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 and found that the new program began giving unexpected errors and also took up a lot of space and valuable resources. This wasn't mentioned in the product brochure. In addition Wife 1.0 installs itself into all other programs and launches during system initialization where it monitors all other system activity applications such as Boys Night out 2.5, and Cricket 5.3 no longer run and crash the system whenever selected attempting to operate Saturday Sports, Bar 6.3 always fails but Saturday Shopping 7.1 runs instead. I cannot! Seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background whilst attempting to run any of my favorite applications. I am thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0 but uninstall doesn't Work on this program.
With regards,
Joe.
THE REPLY FROM XXX -
Dear Joe,
This is a very common problem resulting from a basic misunderstanding. Many men upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 thinking that Wife 1.0 is merely a UTILITIES & ENTERTAINMENT program. Whereas Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM designed by its creator to run everything. You are unlikely to be able to purge Wife 1.0 and still convert back to Girlfriend 7.0 as Wife 1.0 is not designed to do this and it is impossible to uninstall, delete or purge the program files from the system once installed. Some people have tried! to install Girlfriend 8.0 or wife 2.0 but have ended up with even more problems. (See in manual under alimony Support and Solicitors Fees). Having Wife1.0 installed myself I recommend you keep it installed and deal with the difficulties as best you can. When any faults or problems occur, whatever you think has caused them, you must run the C:\I APOLOGISE program and avoid attempting to use the *Esc-key. It may be necessary to run C:\I APOLOGISE a number of times but hopefully eventually the operating system will return to normal. Wife 1.0 although a very high maintenance program can be very rewarding. To get the most out of it consider buying additional software such as Flowers 2.0 and Chocolates5.0. Do not under any circumstances install Secretary36.24.36 (Short Skirt version) as this is not a supported application for Wife 1.0 and the system will almost certainly crash.
Thank you for using the program!!
With regards,
Bill
P.S. In no case try to install the free software (Mother-in-Law 1.0) that comes with WIFE 1.0 operating system. Installing the software would lead to Not Responding messages from Wife1.0 operate system.
